[b]People me and son

[b]Duration 6 hours

[b]Tide end of low/then incomeing

[b]Weather to windy/cold

[b]Bait mac/lug/squid/razer

[b]Rigs pullys/

[b]Results 3 dogie's two flounder and a missed conger

[b]Report started the day at soldiers rock at low tide, got a few wee taps on the rods at first putting that down to possible whiting, then we hit some dogie's, got three of them all were around 2 1/2 to 3lb then a few flounder. at around 3 ish the tide was well into the turn and things were getting a bit to rough, i noticed a fairly big swell starting and i seen it coming, a freak wave coming right at us, we just managed to get up the rock away from it. was way to close for comfort, so we finished the day behind the wall at greencastle, hooked into a massive conger, but he got back into the wall and i could not shift him, when my line did come free the trace was mangled and the 4'0 hook was bent and twisted..........

nice session. shame about the conger :x conditions have been a bit mad lately, we had to take shelter under a lighthouse last week to avoid the waves coming over the harbour wall, but well done for sticking with it

Soldiers rock

#3 Post by FMCN »

Hi fisherammun1. Saw one of your earlier reports for this mark and see it is below the golf course at Greencastle. I fished a mark here but on the admiralty charts it is shown as skate rock. Only get on to it at low tide. Wonder if this is the same mark. Have you heard of this one.

hi FMCH, have not heard of skate rock, but this could well be the same mark, just that i have always known it as soldiers rock, fishable only at low tide. next time I'm down i will ask about skate rock, for i know a few guys from greencastle....
