Any rod builders out there.

#1 Post by coaster »

Hello all. I have a Abu Suveran SX and love it. Good all rounder. Problem is the last time that I was at a casting meet with SCI I noticed that one of the inserts was cracked. I want fiddling with it and the ring fell out. I thought I had better check the rest of them and to my Horror almost all of them were the same.

What I am looking for is someone who will re-build the rod for me. All the rings have to be replaced.
What kinda cost will it be?
What are your thoughts on low riders?
What rings would you recommend?

Cheers in advance. Paul...

fellow in bonds in limerick city does a factory job on replacing rings you wouldnt tell the difference..
Thing is youd want to supply you own fuji rings as he tends to use the cheap replicas(hes a coarse angler so i dont think he knows the difference)...just tell him spacing, give him the rings and as far as i remember its fairly cheap if you provide your own rings..

think he has some sort of tool/machine that gives such a good finish

i went to peter horne in blarney, he charged me 80e to rebuilt a conoflex rod. He supplied all rings(fuji). All i can say it was a fantastic job, comparable to a factory finish. best i know of.

Hi Sean,
Do you have a phone number or website for Peter Horne. He's someone I may need to get better acquainted with soon.
