Chipped Century CCC

#1 Post by DL.TURBOT »

My stand fell yesterday and chipped My New Century CCC on its first proper run out, I wasnt impressed, Is it possible to repair? The only reason I want to is that Im afraid peeling over time...Could it be a diy with the rod building kits on ebay or would I be better to taking it to someone? If I do it myself it might just look like a big blob on the rod!

hi turbot' it is easy to put right all you need is a bottle of fly tie'ing varnish, and apply a coat to it, when dry apply another coat, and so on. until you get it even..hope this helps you!!!

no prob's mate, have dealt with that sort of damage for a lot of guys. just make sure to remove any loose bits ( make sure its completely dry before you start ) use fine varnish and build up the layers. it will work out fine. let me know how you get on....cheer's

For the sake of the good rods just send it to the builder. Not advisable to use other than properly design rodbuilding epoxies....unless its for instant temporary repair....its not that hard to do that kind of repair....

I contacted Century last night, They replied first thing this morning, The guy there, Simon Chilcott said to send the rod in and he would repair it free of charge and return it this week again, Cant say fairer than that really!

mate, for the price of postage to UK you could go to Viking in Bray, they do rod repairs, see if they could sort you out?
