if that was the case then you could argue that a moored boat or anchored boat would also be fixed to the ground

yes its been added.. just not updated

and tom... extra points for anyone who can catch a fish with one foot on the boat and the other on the shore, now the foot has to be firmly inside the boat and the other firmly on the shore/pier, if either foot joins the other during the retrieval and unhooking of the fish that will dictate where it was officially caught

If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

this is no joking matter. On many piers, you would cast from the top and then
clamber across the moored boats to easily land the fish

if that was the case it would be a shore caught fish as the bait was cast from the shore..

now i dont want to hear stories of fish being caught on a boat and towed so they could be landed on the shore either

I heard that they were called long spined on another forum due to the the length of the spine being bigger than the diameter of the eye.

That there Jack is actually the long spined sea scorpion Taurulus bubalis on account of its uppermost preopercular spine being longer than the diameter of its eye. They only grow up to about six inches long so thats a pretty good specimen.
from the ukswff forum. and the short spined one is called Myoxocephalus scorpius . Supposedly.

Hi 2 different species of sea scorpion the long spined version http://www.marlin.ac.uk/species/Taurulusbubalis.htm
http://www.glaucus.org.uk/bullhead.htm
and the short spined version
http://www.glaucus.org.uk/bullrout.htm
All depending on the area what the local name will be ,but looking up sea scorpion will get you in the right area .
