Gambia 8-15th feb

#1 Post by Stan »

Week in Gambia. Me & 6 others. Fished from early morning till late at night from shore. Bait and spinning. Lot of wind, waves and weed made life difficult. Caught fish every day but worked hard for it.

Maybe Feb is not a good time.

Fish caught: catfish ( several), Casava 1, stingray 5 ( small), Guitar fish 3 ( small), Butterfish 4, grouper 2. Several barracuda were missed while spinning. I think that the water was too dirty and they plunged at the poppers but missed. They jumped over them and snapped at them but missed.

No jacks showed at all.

Holiday was great. 25-32 C every day. Local people very friendly...sometimes too friendly!! Food great. Jul beer fab.

Two well known brothers from Cork also there for the week and they did 3 days in boat. Results for them not great either. No doubt Skua might have done well if they had her there.

Overall everybody enjoyed. I hope to go back in October.
