hi there ,i got a small boat from my da ,hopeing to do a bit of inshore fishing this summer on the east coast. iam looking for advice on where i can send the boat for a good check out as it has not seen water for some years now ,it is a 16ft fiber glass open boat,all info would be great,thanks

Pete,
First off if the boat looks OK there’s a good chance that it is OK. Inspect the hull and especially the transom with Mk I eyeball. Have anyone you know who knows boats to have a look as well. Look for cracks in the glass (not paint) Soft patches in the glass etc.
Other than getting a proper survey done, you could get a RNLI sea check done as well. The guy doing it will advise on safety, I’m sure they would comment on anything that is blatantly not right.
