baitcaster reel

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Look for an Abu designation ending in "01", that indicates it's a left hand reel. ie Abu 6500 is for right hand, Abu 6501 is for left hand.

Actually, you could do a lot worse than an abu 6501, if you can find one at the right price for you.

Same here wayne when fly fishing I always put the reel on so I can wind with my left hand. Ive better control and sensitivity with my right hand.

Try google Daiwa coastal Inshore....Tica Caiman...Tica Pisces.....yes Tica is made in korea but same does the revo.....i found that the construction quite surprise me for the reel that not coming from manufacture like daiwa and shimano....the pices is a bit lower end than Caiman....but i fought 19kg,20kg and 23kg plus a 2 meter lenght hammerhead before with no issue in South Africa.

other than that you can get Abu 5000 series.....4000 and 2000 series can be more comfortable to palm and smaller....cast lighter bait better but very hard to get here and can be a bit pricey i never saw any 2000 and 1000 series in left handed crank.....theres a few reel locally specially Abu ,record,c3 which will suit for your application but its gonna be a bit pricey, more of your budget.....get it online you get cheaper.....get it from local tackle shop and you can get the service waranty after sales etc....wait a bit more so u can stretch a bit more of ur budget and get them locally.....

Live in the monkstown area, only just started fishing with bait recently have fished killiney a couple of times with eric. Have done most of my sea fishing with the fly around killiney and sorrento. Fished a comp in cork and wicklow as well. Thats about it really. What about yourself.

hi wayne' got these ones couple of years ago in a sale from mularkeys, shakespeare solara skp. they are for pike and light sea fishing/left hand wind/brass gears..i use them all the time in the sea and find them great, took the level wind off one of them and use it off the beach. got them in that sale for £20 each, cheap but good...

Good reel for price..i used to have those cardiff....tough and reliable.....btw i am not a fans of shimano...but when its come to the traditional round baitcaster they design it good.....pop in some hi precision ceramics spool bearing and its good to go.

Just in case u need this in the future....
