Mullaghmore 14th Feb
People:Donegal Bay winter league match
Duration:7pm to 10.30pm
Tide:Flooding all day
Weather:Lovely night, light south easterly and clear skies
Bait:Lugworm, white rag and mackerel
Rigs:Three hook flappers
Results:Flounder 2, Whiting 1, Sea Trout 1, Bass 1 oh yeah and a Blackfish or possibly Cornish Barrelfish
Report: Bit of a mad night, ended up catching my first ever Sligo bass and found a still alive deepwater Blackfish washed up in about two inches of water. I don't know which i should have been more surprised about  The silver lad measured 47cm and took lugworm/mackerel cocktail, thought it was a sea trout before the headlight picked out the dorsal...nearly fell over in the surf :D
After that i didnt really care about how the rest of the night went although it did prove very slow, with only a few lads catching. Will get John D. to put up the pics for me.

breaking news...
BREAKING NEWS
Reports of a suicidal young bass in the Sligo area throwing itself at a host of visiting anglers have been confirmed by a spokesperson for the local sandeel residents association.
They have slapped an ASBO (angler's sick behaviour order) on DavyP and Peter, neither of which the spokesperson pointed out where Sligo residents.
"We don't need their type around here, feckin conservationists me eye... and they can take that feckin thug of a Waterford bass with them" said the sandeel.

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Now Kieran, I may have to moderate your language a bit there. Any more of that and you'll be kicking your heels for a week on the sidelines with a ban..... :D
Well done on the bass baldy, I'd say that more than made up for the poor return on Sunday. As for that other thing....Weird.... Did you win the comp?

Great to see bass in the northwest, hopefully this will be the start of something seeing as Davy P took one aswell. Be wonderful addition to the fishing up here :D :D
The Blackfish was mad and was still alive when i picked it up, was tempted to snig him with a hook and claim him as another species  Normally a deepwater fish so don't know what the heck brought him in ashore.
Pete that bass made my night and give me enough cm's to take the full 17 points for the match and as a consequence the winter league title. Be seeing you in the Anchor Bar in Portstewart for the Masters then
