Meths for tuning

#1 Post by hughcronin »

anyone ever use meths for tuning bearing on reals, I'v gallons of the stuff and short of drinkin it or sending the misses on a cleaning binge taught might put it to use. it'd be handier then flyin of the the garage and stinkin car out with petrol.
anyone any experience on this vital issue???

It'll evaporate too quickly, only thing i'd use it for in this field is to clean the bearings with, normally people use lighter fluid for this, meths isn't too far off lighter fluid in that they're both organic solvents.

It'd be no good for permanent lubrication though.

sound out man,
so long as it doesn't damage like. taught it might be ok for washing the bearings when tuning multipliers like. you'd be amazed the gunge comes out of mine after about 3-4sessions. I clean em in sealed containers anyway so evap not major prob.
so long as it don't do damage anyway. ta

I wouldn't have thought it'd do any damage, but it will strip oils and gunge, so if that's what you want to do it should be fine.
