Home Nations Team Selection System

#1 Post by JOHN LYNCH »

At present the winner of each provinces closed gold league league plus the winner of the Jimmy Smith get to represent Ireland at the Home nations championships each year.

This limits a max of two anglers from any one province making the team. Surely it should be our best team. Some provinces have well over 100 anglers taking part in their closed gold championships and others alot less which makes qualification easier for some.

I suggest that a system identical to the selection of the u16 and u21 teams would be a much fairer system. The top 5 in each province would have a fish off competion with the top 5 making the Irish home nations team.

What do you think? I can't see any problems with it.
