Won from the South Beach Greystones by John Bermingham of South Shore SAC with 13 fish, mostly whiting.

A lot of whiting showed in Greystones in the last hour of competition.

Greystones fished better than Kilcoole which in turn fished better than Newcastle. Whiting and dabs prominent species.

Over 100 anglers fished - full results will be posted on Leinster site over next few days.

Richard Gormley won Newcastle with 7 fish.

The tide pull for the first 3.5 hrs was pretty bad on newcastle, a 6oz uptide lead was needed at 40yards out. Most of the fish came in the last half hour. Maybe not the best of venues in daylight, but a great turnout all the same. I hope to get up to the next leg in Kilgorman, heard there are a few more fish about there.

i fished newcastle what an awful beach during day light 3 whitting on my final 2 casts saved me from a blank
but i have to say that it was a well run comp and the turn out from sai was good and to have over 100 anglers says it all

Well done Eric on coming second in your zone to John Bermiongham.

Only managed 3 whiting myself- wasted too much time thinking they would come closer in darkness before I used the clipped rig.

JD, did the same on Newcastle, expected that a flapper at 100 yards would be enough to get in contact with them in darkness but they seemed to take there time coming in to shore.

Well done eric, good fishing.
