Nice thingy for fishing off a pier...

Saw this on e-bay, but looks easy enough to make. Two velcro straps go round the railing, rod sits on the padding on top and a third velcro strap holds the rod down. You could make the top strap smaller so you could strike easily I guess.

There is a similar product made by an english crowd called "rail monkey", primarily for boats but also applies to piers. Its basically an adjustable clip that clips to the rod and allows you to clip to pier/boats railings. Very light, doesnt interfere with casting

Saw them a while ago on Tacklebargains.uk. Just checked and they're still there. If you want to buy in bulk they work out at £62.28p for twenty, includes P&P to Ireland. £3.11p each. Better still, get the Missus or somebody else's to knock one up. Shouldn't be difficult. Bit of velcro etc. For further info on what I said above have a look here:
