Leenan Pier, Donegal, 2/9/08

#1 Post by DL.TURBOT »

People:Myself & Matthew

Duration:5 Hours

Tide:Flood

Weather:Windy, then wet and calm

Bait:Mackerel, Lug,

Rigs: 2 / 3 Hook Pat, Running Ledger

Results:1 Flounder for Mat & a Belter Conger for me

[b]Report:]: The fishing was very slow all day as expected, We had a spare rod which we stuck a running ledger and a mackerel flapper on, threw it over the side, the rod tipped about 20 mins later and as I struck into it almost snapped in half! A fight of about 20 minutes and we ended up dragging it along the side of the pier and onto the beach at the top and climbing down the ladder to get it, I stupidly tried to unhook it with my hand and my finger is still throbbing and starting to go black! Unfortunately no scales, but measured about 5ft! My biggest conger yet!

leenan is a great pier for congers must get down again soon didnt think they be about at this time of year, if you try at the end of the pier where the wall is and chuck the bait out at an angle there is some big conger there
