wicklow bay sea angling club comp 20/1/08

#1 Post by keitzer30 »

there was 18 anglers who fished arklow south beach in wbsac clubs first comp of the year . fishing was from 2 to 7 . i was using lug, squid , makerel, black lug. it was my first comp . there were loads of fish caught, i was using three hook flappers the results were as follows. 1st eric hore with 22 fish. 2nd danny brennan, with 21 fish, 3rd tony bolger 21 fish 4th me with 20 fish my best of them a codling of 33cm.
After a days sea angling nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught, turning all fishermen into liars except me. And to tell you the truth, im not so sure about you: WBSAC member : species 2008 : whiting, lsd, codling, flounder, plaice, dab, smoothhound, rockling, pouting, bullhead, coalie. bass 28 LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB FOREVER THE REAL REDS

skip i found the lug and black lug tipped with small bits of squid worked for me . i know all the lads had lug because there is a rag ban till 28th of feb. also speices i got were dabs, flounder, whiting, rockling, codling, dogfish . in all id say i caught 70-80 fish but only 20 of them were counters. only had one blank cast all day nearly all triple shots or double shots. i was at peg 1 and rocker the winner was at peg 2 they were at the pier (north) end of the beach.

sounds like the beach in arklow is producing well even if the size of fish is small it beats getting nothing sounds like a whiting on a 6/0 hook could turn up something interesting

yeah rodger its a long time since i had a session like that. id say if u had bigger baits on could be a chance of a decent codling.
