ambitions for this year :-
1) new species (already done 8) )
2) comp win or two would be nice (or at least outfish Petekd in a competitive situation which can almost amount to the same thing :)
3) Get at least 30 species this year
4) I'm with hush1 on the girl for nights fishing -something to do between casts could be good, not sure what my wife will think of that though.......
2019 Species (8): Whiting, Coalfish, Dogfish, Bass, Coalfish, Dab, Lesser Spined Sea Scorpion, 5 Bearded Rockling

species for 2010 (27)
species for 2011 (12)
species for 2012 (8)
best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

I COULD START A NEW DATING SERVICE........

I could call it "Saturday Nights By The Sea"

Enjoy a romantic evening on the beach while enjoying the company of a stinky mackeral fingered fisherman......ah what an idea!!

You could woo these girls with cups of hot tea and cheese rolls...for an extra gimmick Rogerdadoger will photograph the happy couple....for the happy memory..if the dates not going well he can make noises in the sand dunes and then jump out which will make her jump into yoiur arms from being scared. Hold on he does that already  .

if it starts too rain you can relocate to the comforts of your fishing bivvy...I think Im on a winner!

What do you think lads?

my N.Y resolution is to get myself a good multiplier reel and a new beachcaster rod , get my head around the multiplier and get a good technique so i can start bangin out the leads with a bit of distance if i need too :P .. seein as im usin sh%*e fixed spools at the moment and my rods are a bit knackered too... i need to work on my current cast which lands about a foot infront of my nose

I agree with Conor, great multiplier for starting out, pretty forgiving - no complaints with mine (other than that handle nut coming loose!!) in the past few months I've been using one....

I'm quietly targeting 50 species this year but I swing both ways, i.e fresh and saltwater.

Two species I've always wanted to get under my belt are Huss and Ray so they're a defo, thinking of the Shannon estuary.

ok, decided I was aiming to low for my resolutions this year - picking up new species to easily at the moment and am pretty confident I'll get my 30 species barring any unforseen accidents, so after a conversation on the way back to Cork from Saturday's comp am going to up the ante somewhat.
My new resolution is to catch a Porbeagle :D (hopefully Pete is still game for helping me???) maybe between the two orkney's we'll be able to handle one :?
So watch the boat reports! (or possibly the national news when they're trying to find me  when the porbeagle tows me around the place)

2009 would like to hit 20 this year

there's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.
