I'm not sure about the tide ill try and find out for you.

id say you have a good chance of a few flounder, coalfish, whiting and I've caught bass there in late November you never know your luck you might just hook in to one :!: :!:

Beal Littor and Ballybunion

#8 Post by kieran »

Hi

Check out the January edition of Irish Angler, I've done a piece on all the marks from Tarbert west through Beal and Littor Strands and on to the Cashen Estuary in Ballybunion. The one I did not include was Kerry Head which is a rock mark and particularly dangerous if you are not familiar with it, in any event this time of the year it might be a bit early for pollack.

Species for beal strand would be flounder and dabs close in, whiting on calm evenings, dogs, the odd decent bull huss at night, strap congers, with the possibility of rays at distance. Odds and sods including weavers possible. Dunno about bass in mid winter, might find one in a big surf?

2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

hi skip , the nearest tide time i could find was for carrigolt , should be much the same as its on the opposite side of the estuary,
hw is 04.54 4.5m - 17.21 4.3m
lw is 11.06 0.9m - 23.15 1.1m
If someone shows you a mark to fish, respect it and dont pass it of as one of your own, dont tell every man and his dog about it.

I've fished beal strand but only low water and that what the lads do as well. Normaly cast small baits as far as I can. Clean ground but though work bringing fish over the sand banks. There'd only be a surf here with a northerly and not much of one as it's inside the estuary facing querin. I've heard of bass been caught during the summer from littor. You could try carrig west on most states of tide except when the tide is running on springs for huss and dogs close in and all variey of fish usually a little further out.
