the high speed is my preference although ive never used the turbo, high speed has a high gear ratio which makes it great for match fishing in case your over rough ground or distance is vital and its nice to cast

i would go with the turbo. Ive had mine over a year of solid abuse and only cleaned it once and its running great.
casts like a dream and(dare i say it) i think its more controllable than the abu despite the lack of mag brakes.
also there has been questions about the quality of the new abus, and you wont have that problem with the daiwa(in my experience anyway).
also i would like to add that I'm usually an abu man through and through but if i was offered the turbo over the abu i would deffo take it.

To date the highest spec Abu Ambassadeur reel is the 6500 C3 CT Mag and the 5500 C3 Ct Mag....both have brass side plates painted Gunmetal Grey......why Abu class the Red 6500 High Speed as the top of the range defeats me :?
I know quite a few guys who have the red high speed reel, some rate the reel others have had bad problems, like gears stripping under no pressure and poor casting qualities.
The red Daiwa Turbo hasnt got half the hype and everyone I know who has one rates it 100% my son bought one and ordered another after the first time he used it.....it may not be a favorite over grass, but on the beach it seems to do the business.
BTW....I am a real Abu fan :)

I have the new 7ht mag and i have cast the red hi/speed abu and they are both fine examples of excelent enginereing, i have heard of a few of the red abu,s have had gearing problems but IMO it casts like a dream and is very solid, as for the HS gears i have been putting HS gears in my casting reels for a while now so nothing new there, it just winds my lead in quicker!! the 7ht mag is also very solid and very very smooth (but as it was desingnd as a fishing reel and not for the field) but has too much breaking for my liking, if i had a choice it would be abu,s all the way, there a bit more tempramental but overall proformance wins hands down IMO
