had my first bass of 2008 today both M.T.& S.T. were at about 12.30 fished form 12. till 1.30 got 1 and lost 1 both around 12.30

. on lug/razor cocktail. the weather was 50/80 k.p.h. s.s.e. so strong that it was blowing me off my feet.

Nice one Art! You really have this moon phase worked out. Very interested to see how you relate it to the tides.

just thinkin the last 2 bass i got just before xmas with phil/quinner, got 1 of 6lb at 3 p.m. M.R. @ 3.10 p.m.

the other 1 i got at 4.30, S.S. @4.20

brian, any chosen mark that is known to fish best at any given stage of the tide , combine this with a favorable moon phase/cycle that occoues at about the same time....... say mark x fishes best 1 hour eather side of H.W. lets say H.W. is at 5, so any time between 4/6.
imo. "all else beening equal" the single best tide of each month, is l.w. in the a.m. on the day of n.m. when the moon is in transit.

jimbo, hope to do most of my bait fishing for the next year (or 10

) bised around the solunar influences, i have drawn some charts to log all data,i think they will be very interesting.

Very interested in seeing your charts when finished Art. Need a few spare hours to go through this whole thread and pick out the wisdom contained. Unless of course you have a quick summary on the tips of your fingers there!

try and fish the top days each month. and plan each session so that it covers a phase if you can fish a day when the cycles of the sun are atthe same time as the moon.(give or take 1 hour) the cycles are the same over every set of spring tides (thats twice per. month) were you will have 1 day were sunset coinsides with moonset you will also have i sunrise that coinsides with moonrise the l.w. on the days of both full/new when the moon+sun are both in transit seem to produce the best catches..

worth bearing in mind art that while your voodoo system work well but low water in dublin is at the same time as high water in waterford so the timings will vary depending on location

During the days of both full/new moon with sun and moon in transit it shall always be high water around noon in Dublin/ Belfast and low water on the south coast.

Hi dave,you should notice an improvement in your fishing over a period of weeks when using the dates and times recommended by cortaz. He has obviously done a lot of research into this subject as verified by his catch reports and records. Don't expect this to be a panacea for a poor day's fishing as there are other factors to be considered when planning a fishing trip. By keeping records you should be able to compile your own "best dates/times" list for your local fishing area. I have successfully used this system for some years now when pollack fishing and as cortaz states it also indicates the poor fishing times allowing me to stay at home and earn "Brownie Points."
