Weather:a bit chilly but good
Bait:sand eel,lugs,mack and squid
Rigs:2 hooks flapper
Results:17 pin whiting
Report:the sea was perfect just a little surf and a little breeze, alot of small whitings, and two big bites but just completely snag after, it's not the first time it happens at this place, is somebody have an idea of what is this... The hooks are snag not just the lead because i use a rough bottom system so if it was just the lead i could keep my rig and the fish???

Hello there Aurelian. Could be a decent codling in the rough ground there. Another option is to use large fine wire hooks along with your rotten bottom rigs. They should bend out of snags and still strong enough to land most fish you might encounter there.
Try keeping your rigs as simple as possible too. Less gear on them, the less things to get snagged.
Maybe up your mainline to 25 lb for this area.
Hope this helps and best of luck.

Last time I fished here I had 2 really big bites. The 2nd one ran parrallel to the shore about 30 feet out for about 40 feet then broke me off. It had the rod at a pretty good bend and was moving fast enough. Gutted I lost that one, and plan to upgrade the strenght of the line as suggested.
Fish 2009; Whiting, Dab, Pollock, Short Spined Sea Scorpion, Flounder, Ballan Wrasse, Bass, Blennie, Tompot Blennie, Coalfish.

Hi aurelien
If you are fishing between the end of the raised green area and whiterock , you have a chance of a conger or bass. I have seen conger taken in front of the old tearooms and I have been fishing Killiney for over 30 years! A one hook trace is a must in that area with rotten bottom and as the lads have said, heavy line.A similar area, at the other end of the beach is corbawn lane.
GOOD LUCK AND i look forward to hearing how you do.

Too many lures ... not enough time...

I was thinking about a conger at the beginning but thinking there was no eel on the beach, so maybe it's my customer.... I'll try this week end again....
