Abu6500 Mag High Speed

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

UP and Down.....some love them others dont like them that much...Our Kris got one and he preffers the new MagElite with the gunmetal side plates.

He said the hight speed is very noisy and bulky, he also gets a better distance with the other new reel.

His friend bought the high speed and he loves it.....ups and downs Drew :?

Cheers Tom and John,

It's already bought, got it for a christmas present so can't return it now, I'll see what she's like on Tuesday then report back. Tried to get a 7HT Mag yesterday but BAC doesn't have them yet and Tight Lines only had 1 which he wouldn't sell, Gutted.

It'll be some time in February before I'll have the money for the 7HT Mag again, as I'm planning on something beginning with Z at the Belfast Show... (Hopefully, if Tonys is there).

Ive not used one John, so you think that "V" spool is harder to balance? that was supposed to be one of the reasons for the "V" in the first place, huh! ABU!!! doesnt suprise me that much.

I have not taken one of the new Hi-Speed 6500's to bits to check but I imagine they have just used the old hi speed gearing set that they fitted to some of their bait casting reels (5500 size). If they have then the size of the teeth is smaller and would be more easily damaged than the standard gears.

I read in Total Sea Fishing review something about locking out brake blocks.???

Is it possible to disengage say 1, 2 or even 3 blocks without opening the reel and if so how does this work?

The 6 Blocks sit on a star, To take them out of action you simply slide them down towards the center. apparantly
