Malin head pier 3-1-08

#1 Post by MC »

People: just me

Duration:3 hours

Tide: hw, fished 1 before and 1 after

Weather:clear, strong brezze but bloodly cold

Bait:sandeel and frozen lug

Rigs: 2 hook clipped up and sliding float

Results:1 coalie

Report:went to test out new profile, really impressed but no bites on it, but the bite detection is great saw every single crab bite the rod casts great and bait arrived intact on sea bed.

With the wind picking up and the temp dropping i set up the 7ft spining rod with a float, loaded the hook with lug and kept changing the depth until i got a bite, which i missed so with the depth set and baited up with fresh lug i cast to the same spot, let the float pass and recast, no luck, so just chucked the float down the side of the pier, bang the float shot under, one very nice coalie, blank saved, time to go home fingers numb

Hi mc its sometimes cold in the summer off that pier never mind in the winter, my parents live in the cotttage to the left in the photo, the best bait from that pier is crab, if you ask at the so called supermarket at the left off the peir they will give you some ,ask for charlie.
