People:myself, paul mason and Stephen mason

Duration:12:30pm-6pm

Tide:full in at 5:30pm

Weather:calmish a first then turning fairly choppy, mild too

Bait:razor,mussel,sandeel,mackerel,ragworm,lugworm and peeler crab

Rigs: 3 hook flappers with varying snood lengths and 1 hook clip downs

Results:me-10 flounder-22cm,9 whiting to 25cm,1 coalie at 30cm, and 1 20cm 5 barded rockling.
paul-flounder to 38cm,whiting,coalies and 5 bearded rockling.
Stephen- coalies,flounder and whiting.

Report: arranged to meet paul this morning at killiney beach for our first fish of the year, it presented the opportunity to get some more casting tuition also :D when i got to the beach i knew it would be too calm to produce anything, let alone a decent fish  so i suggested a move to whiterock where a small surf was rolling in. past experience told me flounders and whiting would be the main catch and that prediction came to pass as the day rolled on. first cast for stephen landed him a nice coalie around th 30cm mark and a small flounder, my next few casts landed me a few flounders too, the session continued on in the same pattern with the presence of a few whitings for a little variation.
the wind began blow a little harder as the day went on and with it came a nice surf which i thought would kill the fishing here as it usually does but in fact it picked up. a few more nice coalies popped up and then paul landed a cracker of a flounder at 38cm. with the night coming in i hoped a few cod would make in an appearance but instead paul and i landed a rockling each.
i had to leave at 6 to get home for the dinner :D and they stayed on a bit to which i hope they got their cod. top bait on the day for me was razor. nice way to start the year in the same place i finished off.

P.S paul has all the pics, first time i've fished here with the aid of a digital camera :D
