Killiney, under the lights of a UFO

#1 Post by eric »

People:al and myself

Duration:4:30-9:30

Tide:full out at 4

Weather:cold with a breeze

Bait:al's freezer, mussel and mack

Rigs:rough ground rigs,2 hook pats, one hook clipped

Results:plenty of whiting,a rockling,2 flounder,a coalie and a pollock

Catch and Release:: Yes(some whiting died)

Report: met al at the train station around 4ish, the beach looked quite calm and hopes of a cod or two where not high to say the least. walked up to the carpark to try the clean ground for......anything!. within minutes of casting some frozen blow lug and some mussel the rod tip was bouncing, at least whiting where there. we ended up catching quite a few all around the 25cm mark. al tried for a flounder in the surf and ended up getting a killiney cracker(15cm) and a pollock of all things? at which point i noticed the healthy glow of orange light in the sky at 12 o'clock, al appeared to shrug off what could have been our end, the light proceeded to move in a L-shaped direction towards dalkey island and then started moving up and and down, however you would never notice it moving, it would only move when you turnt your head away, freaky stuff.
back to the fishing, we moved up to rough ground to get at least something with some substance, i manged to land another flounder(bigger thans al's  ) and al finished up with a 3 bearded rockling on his last cast.
