cork harbour 26th nov, screeming reels

#1 Post by screeming reels »

People:seirt, damien, myself

Duration:7 hours

Tide:ebb 4 hours flood 3

Weather:fantastic, calm, slightly overcast, a little drizzle

Bait:mack, crab, rag, lug, squid

Rigs:lots

Results:16 species, a good few cod to 5lbs, dozen pollock to 9lbs, coalfish to 4lbs, ballen wrasse, cuckoo wrasse, tub gurnardx1, red gurnardx4, grey gurnard x7, pouting, lost count, poor cod lots, whiting, ling x8 to 8lbs, dabs, mackeral, scad, blond ray 14lbs

Report: headed out at first light on a lovely "novembers" morning, stopped between the forts and picked up some fresh mackeral, and a good few whiting, carried on out to the ling rocks to hit the pollock and were not disappointed, some good fish that fought very hard, but were very finnicky taking the lures, also picked up some good coalfish. drifted the lings, and picked up lots of the old favorites, pouting , poor cod , ballens and cuckoo s, then headed to the ling grounds . here we had some great sport with plenty of gurnards and good ling.
headed back to the harbour to catch the start of the flodd, so as we could try and pic up a blond ray, this we did , pic attached, was the only one, but damien had'nt got one before, so a nice start.
we also picked up a lot of BIG mackeral on baited shrimp rigs, some were just shy of 2lbs!!
so a great day for november, just shows that if we get the weather windows the fishing is still great at this time of year.
regards

That's some haul. Good fishing lads.

Great fishing lads. Mackeral still around! Something good to be said for global warming...
