Report: planned the sesion with two mates during the week and seeming one drove all the way down from dundalk we didnt let the weather stop us. had lines in the water at one and two of us were straight into a cod each, then we hit coalies next cast and there was a steady stream coming in. the lads then picked up a dog and a small rockling. coalies kept coming. we then had three corkwing wrasse in quick succession. coalies died off for bout an hour with only the odd fish coming in and a few small codling and one small pollock. we noticed fish breaking the surface bout 5 metres out so i dropped the line in the middle of them and had a double coalie and a small flounder :? their mouths were full of small silver bait fish not sandeel more like white baitfish ya get in fishmongers , and every cast into that area then produced a fish every cast. coalies were too easy at that stage so stopped dropping into them. stuck a load of crab on hoping for cod and got another wrasse. it got dark then and we were still pulling coalies and the odd codling and then my rod tip rattled and i thought another coalie but when he came into the glare of my headlamp i could see my first sea-trout :P i was happy to call it a day then after a cracking session and a new unexpected species on the list.

Funny you should mention that as the mate noticed a trawler sitting out there and commented on it as he moved up the coast towards greystones just before last light which coincided with high water funnily enough
