TIMES - 4-9pm:
TIDE - lw about 5ish:
WEATHER - Brutal:
BAIT - Crab, Lug, sandeel etc:
RIGS - All sorts:
RESULTS - Alot of Codling, a few dogs, coalies ,ray :
Catch and Release:: Yes/No
Weather conditions for the first couple of hours were probably as bad as I have fished in with driving wind and rain. I'd say that for the first couple of hours I wasn't getting any further than a 70 yard cast. Thank god the wind died down after that otherwise I was off, probably joined by half the field.
The fishing around where I was (Peg 57) started off slow but started producing from about 7.30pm. I managed 6 codling in total and Eugene Farrelly (Tralee Bay sac) the Overall winner in peg 58 had 5 codling a ray a dog and a coalie all in the last hour and a half.
I don't know all the results as I left before the prizes were given out. As far as I know Eugene Farrelly was the overall winner which elevated me to a zone win.
Congratulations to Eugene who is having an excellent run at the moment. He finished 4th in this years master angler comp and won the Waterville 2 - day festival held 2 weeks ago win 2 zone wins.
I'm sure other people will have more info / results on the comp to add.:

Nice to see all the lads from the Kerry clubs up there, 1st and 3rd overall and two zone 3rds. Long may it last. Kerry crab is the best!!!
One thing I notice from Donals post is the variety of species the top 2 guys had. I stuck with crab throughout which was probably was a mistake as all I caught was codling. A bit of mackerel or sandeel might of caught me a bonus ray or dog.

Peg 29 myself, cheque book and pen stuff for me I'm afraid. Some of the worst conditions I ever deigned to attempt to throw a line in. Left with a half hour to go, frozen to the core and with a foot of water in the waders as I'd made the fatal mistake of pulling my waders on over my smock. Well done to all who stuck it out and got a fish or two. There were people leaving that beach after a half hour, cant say I blame them either....
Congrats to Donal D who is in a rich vein of form himself at the mo and put me to shame a few pegs down. Tried that trick of yours last night by the way on another beach. Finished with 5 fish on the rod with the Domeney Rig and 1 fish on the other. Nice tip that :wink:

Blankety blank for me I'm afraid... I was on Peg 42. Not much going on around me and I fished as hard as I could... Just couldn't buy a bite.
I was that cold when leaving I forgot to put the holdall in the car..... :oops:
I didn't notice until the next morning... A quick phone to Donal and he asked someone to drive by and the rods were still there... Thanks Donal.
I fished the Connaught open on Sunday evening and managed 1 doggie.... 10 hours fishing and as many driveing for one fish.... :oops: :oops:
