Should be flats 25cm, round fish 30cm. will check this out in the morning.
The Garryvoe beaches can produce up to 8+ species of fish (cod;conger;coalfish; dogfish; huss; flounder; whiting; bass all under the right conditions so a minium hook size of a 1/0 is recomended

size limits

As far as i am aware at the Munster AGM we voted that all sizes are 20cm including bass in Munster,Where a catch and release is applied with the following exceptions
1.Conger Eel points shall be awared on the folowing basis,
A.Under 20cm and over 20cm
B.under 30cm and over 35cm.
These points to be decided by the organizing body.

2. lesser Spotted Dogfish
The first two to be measured.Set points to be awarded to all Dogfish including those measured.

The question was asked when will this be implented.
Munster Provincial Council replyed as of todayDated October 13th 2007.
As far as i am concered these are the size limits to be fished on Saturday.

Heard about the 20 /20 rule passed alright. There is a big difference between targeting round fish of over 20cm than over 30cm.

FLATFISH 20 cm
ROUNDFISH 20 cm
BASS 20 cm
RAYS (Wingspan) 20 cm

These are the minimum sizes that can be used. Clubs may go above these sizes if the wish to do so.
Great Island will be using the following sizes for the Munster Open
Flat fish 25cm
Round fish 30cn
Bass 43cm
Dogfish 40cm
Rays 30cm
eels 40cm-100cm
eels 100+

The main reason for keeping the larger fish sizes is that the Garryvoe beaches and not known for producing small fish.

A very sensible approach I feel, minimum 20cm but clubs can use higher limits on venues that turn up a bigger stamp of fish. Who wants to be pulling in 20cm whiting all day?

I am all for fishing to the maximum size possible but what if you are pulling in 20 Cms fish all day and not getting any points for them?.

Personally I think the 43cm limit for Bass should be reduced to 30cm the same as any other round fish for this comp.... This will be for C&R only. If you wan't to keep any bass it would need to be 43cm or bigger.

The 43cm size is for bass that you can take home.
i was on to the central fisheries board and their angling adviser said that if you catch a bass below the 43cm that it is not a proplem to record it in a match situation as long as it is a catch & release so why is the bass on saturday stuck at 43cm it beggers belief.

Totally Agree Dogfish..... Hopefully any bass caught on Saturday will make the 43 mark and someone wont be heading home feeling they were done by a silly rule.
