Barley Cove beaches,West Cork.

#1 Post by Last Cast »

Does anyone fish barley cove beaches?.Ive fished the beaches about 7 times over the last month mainly at night and at all stages of the tide.Ive had some good nights but have found the beaches to be all or nothing and some of my best nights were when conditions seemed to be far from ideal.Has anyone had any success with cod from the beaches? Can anglers gain access to the rocks by Crookhaven lighthouse,or is permission required ?.Has anyone fished this mark recently?

Ive had flounder, coalfish and small whiting off the main beach and a dogfish off the beach by the caravan park. Its only in the last month that I have fished here with bait up to this Ive only spun off the rocks. My partner took some bait with her for a walk along the main beach with her family about a month ago and she got some good sized flounder, since then Ive been down in the area whenever I have time. The fishing has been a bit hit or miss but with a bit off exploring I'm sure some of the other marks in the area might fish a bit better.Ive spoken to a few anglers who fish it during the day they have had success on the beach by the caravan park but they have had little luck the last few times. The beaches are known to throw up a few cod but its probably a bit early yet.The lighthouse would be worth a cast Ive heard great reports from there and there is a lot of feeding on the back of the strand.
