People:me

Duration:2030-0000

Tide:lw@ 2145

Weather:cool with a gentle w/sw breeze and mist

Bait:lug and frozen razor

Rigs:pulleys and single hook fixed paths

Results:1 flounder, 3 coalied and 7 bass 1.5-3lbs

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:

having dug some lug for the weekend and collecting the ultralite from will i was itching to get out so decided to hit the beach that produced for me last fridey. arrived to see a nice surf running but as it was lw and i generally dont fish it much over lw i was unshure how succesful i would be. first cast i with the ultralite proved i had made a good investment. i sent a 4oz and 3 lug on a pulley 80 yards with little effort. very cool rod i must admit.

i then set up the imax and went to whack it out with a 5 oz. all was going smoothly until i heard the horrible crack sound and the tip snapped 9 inches down.have had the rod 3 years and caught a lot of good fish on it so cant complian. gives me an excuse to buy another new rod.

anyway back to the fishing. all was quite for the first hour until i got a good slack liner and my first bass of 1 1/2 lbs. this was soon followed by his twin 5 minutes later. in the space of the next hour i had 4 more bass and 2 coalies. about an hour and a half after lw i had my final bass and a small flounder. all bass bar one came to fresh lug baits about 5 inches long, one came to a full razor. was fishing with 1/0 sakuma mantas, which are the equilivant to normal 2/0's and every bass was cleanly hooked in the corner of the mouth.

Nice Fishing..Pity about the Rod..why don't you contact Mr Gilbey ..I'm sure they don't want to know about rod tips cracking after only 3 years.I've hads rods longer than that and never had a problem with tips cracking like that !!

cheers will. ya very pleased with it. couldnt get over how easily i could get a 4oz to fly.great to be getting such good fishing at the moment considering last year was a complete washout

regarding the rod, me da used work in a fiberglass factory and was looking at the tip.he seemed to think the wall diameter on opposite sides of the blank were different (confirmed with a digital vernier), i think it indicates the blank wasnt rolled properly, rockhopper ??. will get back to the dealer tomorro to see what the story is with it. really liked the rod as well.
