Zziplex Primo Match

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

#1 Post by samo »

thinking of getting one of these has anyone out there got one. i want it for fishing cleaning to lightly mixed ground. are there anyother rods out there that might be up to the level of this rod.

Samo.

Why a Zippy PM.....what about the high end Daiwa's,the TX range - much better fishing rods than any of the zippys.

I have a daiwa tdxs 129 and it isn't a better rod than my zziplex primo synchro. i mean, the daiwa is an unbelievable fishing rod, but it just isnt better than the zippy.

samo, the zippy i have is a great fishing rod and the match is supposed to have a softer tip which would be excellent. you said you want a slim rod, have you looked at the profile? might suit what your looking for better.

my advice is to talk to "rockhopper" o this site and he will sort you out. he's a nice guy, and he sure knows zziplex.

as they say...Tom knows zziplex.......Tom knows.

Yawn yet again  - mine is better than yours and so on...

How many of the top match anglers in the country actually use zziplex----

Well the answer to this is very very few if none at all, dont you think they'd be using the very best 'fishing' rods available..

its a bit of overkill to use a zzippy to go scratching around our coast though..

its not the rod that catches the fish.. its whats on the hook..

a zzippy will get a big bait and a large lead out far without much effort as i'm sure some other rods might..

They must have bought them while you were sleeping....I sold 6...yes six to one top match angler a couple of month back, and the winner of the Daiwa pairs bought 2 from me at the same time.....and many more match anglers have bought them over here......man you must have been asleep for a long time

well if they arnt using zziplex TSR, what are they using? if you can say for certain that they arnt using zziplex then you must have met most of them and will be able to tell us what they use instead?

jp(Rampent Wreckfish) uses one and he definitely is in the country's top match anglers category.

also at the home internationals alot of the Seniors were either using zippys or at least had one somewhere......says something doesn't it :?:

Ive a team diawa 130xm its a good bit heavier than a zziplex i have and its over ten years old so i might get a new one bet there feather weight i like the way there starting ta do equal sections it doesn't really matter what the best anglers in the country use

I cant believe TSR thinks daiwa are better quality than zziplex!!! ..if you think about the crap daiwa produce ie, sandstorm etc i dont think zziplex produce lower range products, i dont even think terry would embarace himself or his repuation, says alot for me... to produce fantastic, innovative, groundbreaking, recordbreaking rods one after one after one... Daiwa

There's a saying that goes " a bad workman always blames his tools"

I'm the first to admit to being a tackle tart, however all the Zippys in the world won't gaurantee that you catch fish! Ask Cortaz if he feels that Zippys are the best rods for the job. At the end of the day the standard of rods today are fantastic from all the major suppliers, but Zziplex do have a long standing reputation of producing quality rods and that's a fact.

I don't think that just by having the best gear available you are gauranteed success, I'm living proof! :D

Bait is what catches fish, the rods catch anglers!

I caught more fish on my first ever rod, a Shakespeare 12ft FS.

Any newcomer to angling does not need the very best rod on the market to get fish, that's a fact.

Having said all that, my favourite rod is a Century Carbon Metal and I have 4 Zippys but wouldn't sell any of them! :D

Keith,

I think the saying is "a craftsman never blames his tools" but then again a craftsman never has BAD tools :)

Zziplex have a reputation for making the very best beach casters and tournament rods.

I think you will find that its the hook that catches the fish...the bait only brings him to it

As Samo is not a newcomer and I think none in this thread are, we all agree that a newcomer doesnt need the very best on the market....it would help more than hinder though, would it not

Samo did ask does anyone have a Primo Match and what they think of it

I'm not taking a shot at you Keith, but it seems anyone who brings up Zziplex wakes up the yawners who feel they need to pontificate and score points from somewhere. 8)

aye its abit special imo, one for the lighter leads on field though and its the best match rod ive ever touched has enuf backbone for pulling dogs makes whiting bites look like bass hits, no joke...

mines is speacial aswell built and signed by your man neil watever his face is used to work for penn, blue zircons , fancy thing indeed.

Well impressed at its power and bite dectection, im trying to get another for fishing as i want the one i have currently for the field. Awesome rod , best ive owned and i go through my fair share of rods and nothing has came close to the respect i have for this baby :D

here Dave, theres no need to scorn TSR's opnion. prove it wrong, yes but dont laugh at it.

i mean, some people do truly think that zippys arnt the best. some people think century or daiwa or conoflex are a better make.

i dont like century meself,i just dont like the action and feel of them.

keith. what is a zippy GSM? i thought its the HSM?
