cheers alex , i usually use a 7/0 cox & rawl hook with 200lb mono ! the reason for the really heavy mono is because a conger of that size can do some serious head shaking ! the trace was fraid to bits ! i also tie my weight on rotton bottom style with 15lb line , iv lost count of the conger i have lost because of the weight getting stuck !

thanks boycie. i also use 200lb mono, but i use the heavy duty mustad hooks. do you find the conger swallow the hook often? the last few ive had have really swallowed the hook down and its a pain to get out

yeah i find that alri !! can i ask you to use cox & rawl from now on mate !! those mustad hooks are the same as stainless steel hooks !! if you leave a mustad hook in a conger can do some serious damage ! they never break up ! the ones i use are just like normal match hooks ! and are designed to dissolve in a couple of days !! its a lot easier on the fish !
