Low water 11.15
Westerly f3
wet,wet,wet

Brought two guests fishing with me. Forecast was for rain to arrive late afternoon, early evening
A sadly optimistic forecast that had rain arrive at 11 am and stay torrential for the day
The waterproofs gave up the ghost at 1 and I fished the day cold, wet, and very cold again.

The fishing was good however with 6 tope to 42 lbs, 1 huss at 11lbs,and some mackerel and pollack

The overriding feature of the day was the relentless rain, and I watched all the charter boats head for home at 1pm, should have followed their example.

It was actually hard to enjoy the fishing , given how cold I was ! A thoroughly depressing experience

Next buy now some new waterproofs

No pics as I was too cold and wet to get my camera out of my bag, and my hands had gone blue.

Guys, I havent found the words to properly capture just how cold, wet, miserable,depressed, and demoralising it is sitting in a boat with driving rain and wet kecks......... :(

The 2 hour drive home resulted in unpleasant chafing around the nether regions , and other nameless parts of me were shrivelled and wrinkly

In short, it sucked.

Still, since my weather forecasting has to be just as good as Met Eireanns, I have forecast a beautiful summery weekend for next weeks bank holiday, whereupon we are venturing off loop head in pursuit of our first blue shark!!! 8)

Reading yours and the other small boaters reports on this site has made me determined to sort out a towing vehicle for next season, cant face another summer looking at the boat on her trailer with no car to tow it :evil:

No porbeagles out round Loop Head then? Quite a few were being caught around Dunmore East (I know its the south east) by gill netters earlier this month, nine I think in total.

i know how you feel mate i work in the stuff, minus the boat of coarse, but for 6 tope and a nice bull huss i would pay to be in it :lol:

just wondering when u say shannon estuary is it as far out as beal strand i know there is a big sand bank not far of the strand are u willing to fill me in on the where abouts thanks.Fantastic fishing

The reef off beal strand is the tope mecca in the estuary. About 300 metre off shore at low water in 90 feet, shallower marks at 60 feet fish at high water, 100 metres of f the spit
Dont have the Coordinates written down, but will note them on our next trip out and PM you

ill be heading down next year for a week ive heard its great of some local north kerry fishermen.
its also a great beach for bass :!:
