Broad lough behind the murrough is a tidal lake. Heard of mullet been targeted at the Iron bridge at the entrace and around the water outlet at veha. The mullet go swim with the tide from the harbour up into broad lough and back down again and can be seen fin up all along the river. I've seen mullet go right up to the top of the lake.

Don't knock it . . there are some huge Mullet in those lakes and in the harbour.
I had one last year @ 6lb, was a beauty.
I have seen my mate (I was fishing for Flounder) catch 5-6 decent ones in a session and maybe lose 2-3 at the waters edge, was feckin' amazing.
They can be caught and I have seen them caught and as I say I had a 6lb'er . . . .I just dont think many people put the effort into catching down there, me included but the river is full of them in Summer!
