People: donal and I

Duration: about 8 - 11

Tide: HT 10

Weather: really mild, moderate westerly at times

Bait: mackeral, herring, squid all frozen

Rigs: 2 hook flapper, conger rig, freelining

Results: pollack, shore rockling, poor cod, whiting, conger

Catch and Release:: No one pollack kept deep hooked

Report: the conditions were surprisingly calm - had bites straight away for about 45 mins then it died

initially it was rockling and pollack in close

2 of the rockling were about a foot - and the pollack gave a good scrap - as my old spinning rod fell apart!

rings and spools hanging on the line with a fish on and then crossing the other rod - great craic

was surprised very little was showing at distance - crabs were very plentiful and could feel them on and dropping on the way in

we had a bag of rubby dubby over the edge aswell - seemed to just encourage the crabs more than anything else

then round high tide the poor cod and whiting showed at distance - nothing like the numbers on tuesday - but were far bigger - poor cod round 25cm you definitely knew they were on

had a nice whiting(for the size going) and a decent poor cod in a double was the most interesting thing at distance

as the ebb started it died again nothing at distance - the crabs were winning in close

suggestion was to go - but asked for one more cast on the conger rod - within 10 mins it started to go - a strap about 5.5lb - was happy enough and headed home

now must think up some ritual to get rid of my spinning rod - and start dreaming of getting something new

think i ended up with 4 pollack, 3 rockling, 3 poor cod, 1 whiting and the conger

donal had whiting poor cod and rockling i think.

if the blank is ok just rebuild it, but it you are dreaming of a new one, just close a car boot or the shed door on it, by accident of course
