have a look at the pic below
1: is the corner of the dump, you can dig lug and gather crab here , but at the moment its 9 inches deep in algae
2: lug, whites, maddies, clams and cockles, was clear last week when i dug here
3: maddies and rag and muscle, look for the muscle bed, but be sure to carefully remove ant muscle before digging otherwise it will die off
4: crab, rag, maddies, muscle
hope that it helps

last week at sandymount (these figures are conservative, rounded down as opposed to up), in 2 hours i had : 100 lug, 300 maddies, 50 rag, 5 peelers and a few whites cockles and clams.
ok €70-ish/hr if you did it for a living and sold directly...you won't starve

There are literally no lug casts on the beach and the only place I could find worms after an hour of digging was in the small harbour area down at the ruins in an area know locally as "privo" (seven lug and one rag). Of note, this is one of the few areas that had not been plagued with algea.
i agree with this post totally. ive always dug my lug in this area and this year i found it exceptionally hard to dig them it actually took around 2 and a half hours to dig around 100 one day. last year i would have got 100 in around an hour. as for the brown crap ive no idea what that is there was always a little amount of it there but this year there is tons of it for some reason.
