An Spidéal, Co. na Gaillimhe, 30/10/07

#1 Post by corbyeire »

People: myself and midge

Duration: 5.15 until 10.15

Tide: high at 8

Weather: showery and blustery at first then eased after an hour

Bait: fresh mack just off the boat, cheers kev! frozen lug mussel mack sandeel

Rigs: conger trace, 2,3 hook flappers, pully and freelining

Results: poor cod, pollack, whiting, 4 beard rockling, conger

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: another impromptu session - omens were good when kev arrived in with a boatload of punters and gave us about 10 fresh mack

instantlly the pollack were on the freeline mack strip

then a bit further out - the whiting and poor cod were on the whole time until HT

i had hooked a decent edible crap but he slipped off 1 foot from the pier edge - gutted

then it quietened down after HT - banged it out with a ball of mussel and lug - to see if there were any codling about

then midget gets a rockling on the freeline mack

i had filletless mack out all the time - had one big bite but the fish just released - didnt get another bit of notice

midget had a nice conger 7-8lb an hour into the ebb

then another bite but no hook - and then another one about 5lb

good enough fun - but mind you i never recovered after my crab loss

  Corby, I think you seriously need to change your diet, or see a professional!!
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!
