Benone 20-10-07

#1 Post by round_ourway »

People: Me

Duration: 3.00pm - 6.30pm

Tide: 4.00pm

Weather: flat calm

Bait: rag, lug, squid, sandeel, mackerel

Rigs: bass rigs, flattie rigs

Results: Aero to the zero

Catch and Release:: Yes/No

Report:

Got to the above mark with absolutely no surf at all. I decided to fish anyway but with no great hopes. I fished for 3 hours with not one single bite. Used every single bait in the box at various ranges. Hopefully get up sometime soon as it a nice part of the world.

Pitty there was no surf the place can be barren of fish on days like that.

I have always found the best conditions for the chance of a decent turbot are after a Northerly or North Westerly blow, and not in calm conditions. You definately dont need a big surf running to get bass on benone or downhill, especially if fishing during darkness.

was at downhill last sunday afternoon 2 good plaice, 1 at 1lb and the other touching over the 1lb mark and couple of wee flounder,s that was the limit no bass on the go, and that was speaking to a couple of anglers that were there all night and day.
