Paul Kerry Rod, Shimano Aerlex 8000 now somewhere at the bottom of the sea at Hook Head :cry: I needed a pee, put down one rod........just as I was zipping up, my rod and reel went over the side faster than Louis Hamilton....If nothing else it proved I was getting things right :D

happened to a mate of mine, theres now a tope who owns a penn mag and century kompreser .

Havent lost a Rod to the Sea, But I NEARLY lost one to a Big Sharky thing in Belfast Lough once.... Long Story but the Butt of the Rod was Lying at 90' by the time I grabbed it and latched into the fish! lol

indeed i did... would have been funnier to see it being draged off into the water.. but i'm not that sarcastic.. honest...

nearly had a 8.5lbs bass take a rod out of my hands, i was only expecting a flounder, next second i was 10 yrds into the water :shock: :shock:

lost an awt and a 7ht to a conger ,,,,,,,, also lost a red oblivion and a 525 to a tope to :lol:

fishing can be expensive

its amazing how quick both went

so you are telling me that when you take a leak you are always watching the rod and ready to grab it?

Make sure your reel drag is smooth.Use them.Dont lock them down tight....specially when leaving it for a while....use line out alarm/spool click......tied them up if u gonna leave them for a leak....a bad drag which is not smooth and jerky will make sure that it will jump of the tripod in case of sudden surge from a big fish....while a smooth one will pay out line.....and it will give u enuff time to take action....

no body laugh but................

last night i had the most f**** up dream ever and in a way it relates to this topic........

i dreamt that i was fishing off the rocks for pollock when all of a sudden a shark of some description took a hooked fish, the fight was so big that i was getting pulled towards the water off my fishing ledge and for some reason was unable to leave go of the rod and rather than just the rod fall into the water i was taken with it. it was at this stage i woke up.................
