Tide: HW around 19:00
Weather: showery, easterly wind, clearing later
Bait: fresh lug, frozen razor
Rigs: 2 hook flappers
Results: 1 dogfish and copious amounts of kelp
Catch and Release:: Yes
Report: Headed to usual spot, full of high hopes, but the wind the previous night must have stirred up all the kelp as huge lumps of it were attaching themselves as soon as the weight hit the bottom. Couldn't find a clear spot anywhere on the beach. After a couple of tackle losses we decided to head back closer to home and fished Myrtleville as it'd would have been more sheltered. Calm seas there with any weed at the shoreline, so safe enough. Last cast got me a blank saving doggie on the lug.
A young fox was down there as well running round, playing with the sea weed and my bucket. He was coming right up to his and then running away. Keep seeing foxes when I'm out fishing - what's going on?

are these regularly fished beaches - probably the fox is well used to seeing people - but more importantly their bait!

mouse and mackerel eh Eric, feeding him up for bait?
The first beach is fished alright, but there are other attractions there for a fox, but I have had bait snaffled by that fox.
The other beach would be busy at daytime (and at night with the school kids partying), never seen a fox there before, usually the local dogs are down and around there. Think he/she was interested in the seaweed, kept running down grabbing a bit, running up the beach and shaking the weed to bits. Good fun anyway, luckily he knocked over my tackle bucket and not my bait bucket.....

Steve I take it from that comment it's your ideal woman ? a fiery red head, plays hard to get, loves salty food and hanging around beaches till all hours entertaining lonely fisherman :lol:
