report: we decided to try the steps between the harbour wall and the south beach after reading a report here a while ago. We got off to a good start with a small coalie each on our first cast but we were losing some fish on the retrieve through the weeds so we packed up and headed for the harbour wall. There was only one guy fishing on the wall and he told us he hadnt any luck. we were using mackerel strips and big mick was first with a dab. I landed a coalie of about 30cm next. 2 all now but big mick was getting more bites and caught 2 small whiting. My last fish was a bearded rockling which gave a good thump and you definitely knew you had something on the hook all the way in.at approx 40cms this was the biggest fish all night, where are all the doggies gone?. Micks coalie was next and then we packed up .
