People: 15 anglers

Duration: 18:00 to 23:00

Tide: LW approx. 18:00

Weather: Dry, slightly cloudy, SSE breeze

Report: This was the 8th competition in the 2007 SAI SAC Shore Master Angler Series. After some deliberation and good reports from earlier in the week, we decided to fish Fermoyle, a few miles East of Brandon.

A total of 15 counting fish, all flounder, were caught by the 15 anglers. I'll let everyone else post their own experiences. I've nothing else to report since the only fish I saw were Alby's :D.

Despite the lack of fish, it was decent weekend in a lovely venue.

After totting the scores, it finished

One counting flounder of 25cm for myself. Spent a fruitless couple of hours absolutely wellying a 3 hook clipped as far as I could given there were very few flats coming in to absolutely no avail whilst listening to the rugby in the jeep (more disappointment...). Not even a coalie caught....

Disappointing fishing but sure thats life. Should have stuck to flattie bashing. Well done Alby and JD on your 3 fish apiece, a good achievement given the shortage experienced by the rest of us. Alby lad, looks like you've nailed 3rd place barring a miracle in Garryvoe, congratulations and well done.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial :D

Decided at the start that I'd stick to winkling out a few flats until/unless I heard reports of anything else happening (Ray/Bass).
Rig was a three hook flapper kept close in. All of the fish came to lug tipped with mack.
Disappointing given that 3 of the lads had 30 fish between them for three hours fishing in similar conditions 2 nights earlier.

started off with a few distance casts, but to no avail.. waded out to my knees and literally dropped the baits and walked back(no casting involved atall)..
after a few minutes i pulled a small 29cm flounder up the beach, it might not have been much but it secured 4th placer for me.. also good to see a few new heads at the comp as well...

well done alby.. still amazed that teacher blanked

I'd be careful if I was you. I'm just working out your final score for 2008 as we speak.

Your adding is bang on. You're excluding the worst 3 so far, I'm including the best 6 so far. Your numbers give a better indication of who's in the running ... :D

very happy with this comp, finaly managed a fish, a nice flounder of 26cm, which means i beat petekd in a comp and didnt break his 5 comp blank record  and it was the only bite i got all night, but it was the best fish i have had all year  ,

spent the rest or the night doing one long cast, changing baits and then a short cast, got fed up and put on a whole bluey fillet and cast out, at least the crabs got fed

all in all a good trip for me

ps
