The trench(tralee bay), Kerry, 19/10/07.

#1 Post by fishinmidget »

People:Me and Jan.

Duration:3:00-7:30

Tide:i dont know

Weather:good. easterley winds though.

Bait:sandeel, mack, squid

Rigs:pulley, 3 hook flapper.

Results:Jan: 1 painted ray.
Me:1 painted ray, 2 dogs and a flounder

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report:well, drove down from galway and got there about 3 after a stop in landers. whacked 2 baits out and promptly missed a bite. then i got a flattie whilst showing jan how to fish for them. the next few hours passed without a bite until jan had a bit of interst in the flattie rod(a light spinning rod). the tip rattled then just kept bending over and over :shock: :shock: after a good fight a nice painted ray of 5lbs was beached. i soon set up a "flattie rod" and this produced a little painted ray of 3lbs. a couple of dogs followed and that was it.

well i was hoping for stingers but the easterlies coupled with low temperatures killed most of the ray fishing....

Paul......it was an estimate and I'm an angler....so it could be a bit off on the weight :lol: :lol: :lol:
