Peeler crab

#1 Post by Security man »

Just curious....
What is the precise recommended science of peeling a peeler crab??

I basically pull off the legs & claws completely, take off the outer shell, peel the belly as much as possible and then remove the lungs (only if freezing).

However, I have noticed others fishing with the legs & claws still attached - only the backshell removed. And then others with just the pincers removed. And more with everything removed except the belly shell etc.

I've had no problem ever in catching fish with the whole thing peeled in its entirety, but could I be reducing my chances of catching fish??

Thanks.

i remove all the shell just because its easier to present on the hook, and i peel all the claws as there great tipping baits for small flats like flounder. cant see how leaving the shell on would help.

yeah but my crabs are taken while there hardbacks, i nurture them to peel by gradually raising the water temp, before they begin their peeling process they get fed once a week.

Kevin ,,
sort of, the system and utilities to the system can be a little complicated to discuss in a forum and to add to the distinct advantages this system will give you bait wise over other anglers ,expecially match fishing circles is beyond belief,,,
this includes blacks ,whites red rag and crab the crab have to be worked to a system pm me if you want more
