north wicklow beach(got a bit lost!)

#1 Post by eric »

People:me

Duration:12-4pm

Tide: ebbing

Weather: rough,cold and overcast

Bait:crab,rag and lug

Rigs:pulley and three hook flapper

Results:7 bass

Catch and Release:: no i killed them all and made fish fingers

Report: decided to find five mile point and fish it for a couple of hours as i have a comp here in a couple of weeks, also im getting bored of killiney and need to broaden my horizons. drove around like a headless chicken in a maze, this happens every time i go here(where?)when i arrived the beach looked very cod'y so i set up a pulley with lug and . crab, and smashed it too the horizon, that is until the wind caught it, i'd say i was out about 20yds if even. after the first hour not so much as a rattle, then a seal popped up the game was on!
decided big scenty baits where not the order of the day so i started scratching for small flats when i hit a schoolie shoal, i had two doubles and one single in a half an hour spell, the all took small red rag, how they found them in those conditions il never know, on my last cast i got a lovely slack line bait but nothing hooked itself perhaps my first decent cod of th winter. all the bass where about 20-25cm and where returned safely to their home to grow up.
