cheap bait tray/ tripod stabaliser

picked one of these up in southside angling last week for less than €14 (see picture) went home and added a split ring to 2 of the corners and another to the centre of the opposite side. to these rings i added a snap link swivel.

add another snap link swivel to your trace clip on the leg of your tripod (you need one on each leg) and clip these to each of the corners.

i also added a clip to an old single rod cup which i put on the "angulated" (is that a word??) leg, add another snap link and you have a removable bait tray for your tripod that also acts as a stabaliser for your tripod.

excellent for those beachs where the tide seems to fill at a rate of knots as you can leave everything bar bait at high tide line and then just operate out of your tripod.

perfect size for sitting ontop of the shakespeare beta box but you need a sherpa or bungies to hold it in place.

i will try post a picture of the finished product later, if this doesnt make sense

i dont know the actual dims but its exactly the same length and width as the width of the shakespear beta box if that makes sense (i think that makes it about 37 cm sq) each container holds 2 pints so plenty of room for bait

they look like the ones coarse anglers use with the seat boxes, they use them as bait tray attached to the box or on a stick

just wondering, if the tray is attached to your tripod what happens when the wind catches underneath it, would it lift your tripod and blow it over :?:

they are designed for the course angler like you said MC

never really thought about the wind issue, but i usually push my tripod in as far as i can, if anything i recon it would stabalise the tripod as it also acts as a leg lock. only made it during the week so i havent got a chance to try it out yet

gety the anyfish anywhere bait box and put a standard cat litter tray down in it fits perfect ,just wash in the sea after each session does not end up smelling out the place got mine viking tackle bray :lol:
