Hi Rab01, just back from a week there. Caught small bream & wrasse-like fish. Used squid that u can pick up at the supermarket. Use small hooks and knit the hook through the squid strip. Leave nothing dangling. Have it so that it is almost concettina like. Good luck!

Hi
There is a whole section dedicated to holiday angling, happy snappers. Check out the reports from Lanzarote. I've done some angling there and the northern and western shores are the best, albeit the toughest to fish.
Angling in the harbours is technically illegal and subject to a EUR 300 fine.
Angling on the rocks outside the harbours is legal just watch for the bow waves from the ferries and the ferral cats!
FWIW

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

Hi Rab
Look forward to seeing some photos....
Watch the rocks, they're volcanic, heavy eroded and real ankle biters / breakers. Some will look solid but actually crumble underfoot...
I am told that the section of coast close to the Tenezeria national park on the north side of the island is the best there is, did not get there, need a car as there is no bus or similar service. There are fishermen's cottages on the coast from the days there used to be an inshore tuna fishery...
Bream are great crack and I am told the bigger surfs hold bluefish and stripped bars but watch for the currents...
