I fished Poolbeg lighthouse today on sabiki feathers.
Caught 5 Mackerel fishing into the liffey side and seven small pollock over the session of about 3 1/2 hours.
I lost another three macks cos they were about midtide at 9 and there was a large drop from the wall into shallow water with kelp.
Good session was had.

Were you drift fishing on the pier or were you drifting in a boat off the pier?
sorry for the late reply i didnt spot the question, any we were in a boat. no shortage of them now. we are getting them in small pods (nothing like the huge schools last year) inshore at most stages of the tide ie its easy to catch 2 to 4 dozen before we loose the pod in 2 to 4 drifts. we are only getting them out in the bay in slack water as of yet but their numbers are much bigger.

Got 5 on Pink feathers from Howth pier last night. Very little happening until light started to drop, then had 2 in one cast and 3 on the next. All in, there were probably around 20 caught. Have to watch your ears fro the flying lead though!
Fish 2009; Whiting, Dab, Pollock, Short Spined Sea Scorpion, Flounder, Ballan Wrasse, Bass, Blennie, Tompot Blennie, Coalfish.

Mackeral all over North Dublin last night, huge shoals jumping out of the water was crazy from Balbriggan to Rush neway, was catching LOADS on a light trout rod and shakeing them off the hooks and they swim off fine. Its good crack!! They were catching them in skerries in buckets!!! Crazy and its only early June!

Myrtleville, Cork, 13th Jun, 5:30pm to 7pm, nothing. Went round the corner to Fountainstown, and had 6 mackies in the hour between 7:30 and 8:30.
Most of them were little Joeys, a couple were worth keeping, and all were good sport spinning with 4lb line and a lightweight rod.
Couple of guys out fishing from kayaks, and a good number of lads on the rocks all seemed to be catching too.
