Thanks very much Dave :D For me it's a fish of a lifetime and one that will be hard to beat for the pure fight it gave me, it was awesome!! 20 minutes felt more like 20 hours. No, I haven't been down to Kerry since May but it won't be too long now until we're away again and I can't wait. Although the mullet are brilliant and have kept me occupied all summer up at home, bass comes first for me and always will so a trip to Kerry beckons 8)

You should have a go at the mullet down here in Cork, they are like big fat carp, think the record for last year came from here if i'm not mistaken, gonna put a bit of time in this year and give the mullet a go. I foul hooked one right under the jaw spinning for bass last year, he was just under 4 pound i'd say, but boy did he go for it, I thought it was a big bass, my heart was racing seeing flashes of silver, when I got him out of the water I was thinking shame its a mullet but by god they put up a good fight, why don't I go for these more often??? remembering a friend of mine who used to fish for them, I think he developed a twitch, you would ask him "why the long face" he would reply "ahh, feckin mullet"  I think he got a few grey hairs with frustration, well so he said

O, crackin fish by the way paula, big well done!
Species 2012:

Cod, Whiting, flounder, coalfish, bass, pollack, sea trout, poor cod, pouting, dogfish, sea scorpion, 3 bearded rockling, blonde ray, painted ray, turbot.

Thanks Cathal :D They are a great fish to target, if you like your Seatrout then you will equally enjoy the mullet fishing, they give you a great fight and on light tackle the crack is amazing.

Thanks Tom. I was tired after getting it landed and very relieved too! It's by far my biggest mullet ever and I think it’s a PB that’s going to be hard to beat.
You should give them a go, they are great crack and when you hook one you know all about it. I know what your friend means, they do drive you mad, I have got a few grey hairs myself since I started fishing for them
I haven’t fished for the mullet down in Cork yet but have plans to go to Roscarberry this year which I am really looking forward too. I hear there is some very big fish down there.

Thanks Martin 8) Looking at the pictures again does bring back good memories of that night. For sure, it was the best fight that I have ever had from a fish.

Thanks – I still smile when I think about it even although it was 8 months ago :D
