Re: recession session number 3
A Lot of marks dont have enough space for a lot of angler's, And if you look at the reports and I dont mean any offence to anyone but all the good one's do not name the mark and why would they
a lot of great marks are right under people's noses but they would rather log on and be spoon fed.

spot on kieth !! why should us anglers who put in time finding our own marks and spend hundreds of hours perfecting the tactics at it only to give it away to a lad who has sat on his arse for hundreds of hours and then expect me or the lads to gove it to them in the flash of a hat !! find your own marks you leeches !!!(no offence this goes to everyone reading ) if i know or trust an angler then maybe...

I think some of ye lads are missing the point in what I'm saying here. No-one is under any obligation in naming site- but don't deliberately mislead people. If you don't want to specifically name the site-just say so (keep location vague)

Re: recession session number 3
People aint looking for longitude and latidude of marks but it is all very secretive
on this forum. There could have been heads marching up Bray Head tonight in baltic and
dangerous conditions. Not one bit responsible! If you dont want anyone to know where your secret mark is then put it down as a private mark, god forbid even the county.
I'm not going to post anything because there might be a poacher out there reading it...nonsense!! It would be a fairly sad poacher who has to rely on this site to decide where to throw his net.
For what died the sons of Roisin indeed.........

Re: recession session number 3
Can't understand the fuss here gents! If anyone thinks that by knowing the exact location of where this cod was caught they can just go there and catch it's twin they are mistaken! Lets remember the sea is a big place, fish move, and for the record it's captor is a very good angler, and it's not like 9lb cod are that plentiful regardless of where they are. If the report and pic hadn't gone up in the first place nobody would be any the wiser, so if the lads choose to not make the mark publicly known so what, get over it and move on!
How do we know that any locations in reports are genuine?
There's cod to 40lb being caught in Norway every day and nobody seems to want to know where that mark is!
All that being said I'm going to catch a bigger one at the comp on the 24th!!
Location Ennereilly!
ps: Boycie I'll need Bait please!

Harsh Lads Very Harsh
Personally speaking I would rather spend hundreds of hours fishing dead marks than sit and home and rely on the shore reports forum to find fish.
Fishing has never been about catching for me and it never will be. If it was I would have abandoned fly fishing for El Salmo years ago and that would have been a terrible mistake I ever made as now its part of who I am.
Of course everyone has their marks that they want to keep to themselves and that is totally understandable.
From my own perspective there is nothing I love more than fishing an isolated area of our beautiful coastline out West in complete solitude and I wouldn't want that ruined by hundreds of anglers turning up with their empty plastic bags ready for the filling. I just hope they like Wrasse, Ray or Dogfish
Don't get me wrong now this is a great site and it has indeed steered me (well in the general direction
With modern technology and the fact that I am sad enough to mark fishing locations on me Garmin I hope that the day will come when people start to add satnav marks to their shore reports, everyone shares them, everyone discovers the beautiful coastline bit by bit. Judging from some of the responses that Nirvana may be a bit away. The Chinese say "A day spent fishing is a day added on" so by that reckoning I should live well into my 100's, maybe then????

If yer gonna name a mark, just make sure its a BIG BEACH with plenty of room for the influx of 'tourists' for the next few days....

Re: recession session number 3
this is the most ridiculous and scandalous affair since Liberace. did ye lads not cop on that during the first recession the pic was taken over rocks, then off a grass bank for the next, not to mention the amount of bray head reports last year from a variety of different location. lets face it if i put up limerick estuary mark or east cork estuary mark, its not gonna take a flippin genius to work where we have been fishing? 2nd thing is bray head, believe it or not is actually fishable, i have done so many a time, its not half as dangerous as you'd believe. i havent fell off any of the rocks yet, now surely thats a testament to its safety standards. anyway if people are under the assumption that the mark is treacherous and willingly decide to fish it anyway at night surely thats their own irresponsibility and not ours!!
finally kaner, you speak of sharing marks, well you share some of your then, where did you get the ray in your gallery? i love a few decent smoothy mark too? lets play a game, everyone post their favorite mark, count how many blaggards fish the mark, litter the fcuk out of it, kill a hape of fish and then winner is announced by having most 'guests' on it!!

I really can't see the fuse now. I download sophisticated imaging software and I was able to undo the photo shopping that was done. If you look over his left shoulder you can just make out a land mark that some people might now.

No problem at all.
All of the Ray you see in my Gallery were taken in Clifden. All fished from the White Lady side of the Bay. Note however most people seem to concentrate around the white lady. Forget that move back inland up towards the Salmon farms, I know a man that works on the farms and I have it on very good authority that there are HUGE ray up around the base of the farms. Personally I never go that far up as it’s a bit of a trek but I fish it about half way between the white lady and the Salmon farms. Best fished on a falling tide and I find that Squid has much better results than the standard Mackerel strips. But please, please anyone who does venture up that way be very careful as the bog and rocks can be very slippy. Needless to say it is an unspoilt area of our coastline so please remove all rubbish before you leave. Have also taken nice Huss up that direction also, along with the usual Mackerel, Flounder, Wrasse and Cuckoo Wrasse...
