lads north beach me favourite venue.
its only worth bringing 4 baits, rag, crab ,sandeel and mussell,
sandeel kills the dogs and picks up the odd codling.
mussell a must for the coalies close in that are starting to show up to 3 or 4 Ib
crab killer for the codling and wrasse in the rough up at the top of the beach.
rag great all rounder can pick up anything.
Top bait rag and crab cocktail.
Fish at the top of the beach under bray head for codling , coalies wrasse odd dog and strap conger.

Fish the arch in the middle for whiting , dogs and odd coalies and flats.

Near the harbour end is last resort stuff but can fish for good codling after a good easterly, this could be a good bet for 2moro as an easterly is forecast for tonight. fish razor after an easterly.

now for the optimists- every year the north beach throws up huge loner bass in october and november usually at either end of the beach for some reason, for these fish close in with big hooks and big baits - king rag, crab or a whole calamari. - fish big.

also for the optimists at the top of the beach in the rough there are some conger and theres one bait that for me has outfished anything else and this is whole smelt wraped on and blasted its just the right size to cast .
use wire because ive taken the odd tope and big huss using this method as well

hope this helps you lads in your compo one last thing the north beach fishes 3 hours down and 2 back up, so tide for your compo 2morolooks bleak.

my tip wold be to blast 3 sandeels ona short and simple 3 hook as far as you can for the dogs because at high water on this beach it can be terrible.

Even though you guys went without me  I hope the weather was kind to you and you managed to fish off!

So what was the result???????????

And when is the next one???????????
If "the north beach fishes 3 hours down and 2 back up", 30th October looks good to me!

Saturday

I went down on Saturday @ 5pm with no sign of any life on North Beach a part from a few people walking. Conditions were too rough, keep reeling in weeds.

So do we all fancy 30th October? If it's fishing down - up rather than up - down, it would be ideal.......weather permitting!

there were a few of us there alright, North beach was unfishable so we spent a few hours on the Harbour before heading to the pub for the second half of the match.

Waves soaked us and there wasn't much action other than a nice cod , a doggy and a few others I wasn't there for.

maybe next time the weather will be more forgiving....

Cheers

Waders

#70 Post by adrwdarcy »

No,there's no need for waders. North beach is very steep & depth is achieved at very close distance.

shelves off pretty steeply, at least for wading anyway. wear them to keep you warm but don't wade!

As far as I know, the ghosties stay in fairly deep water which scares the fish toward the shore.......should be perfect!!

Hi Lads, good luck with the comp, wish I was in mother Ireland would have loved to join in hmmmm if I work me ticket rite who knows, I note there has been a lot of talk about insurance, well guys breathe easy on that one my local angling club runss the penn sea league matches and to avoid any probs with insurance when you have your peg no your name is written down and you sign a disclaimer so that if any thing happens the organisers and penn are not held responsible, Also if you are memebers of the irish sea fish federation can you not get personnel member insurance as they do in the nfsa in the uk hope this might go some way into solving your insurance prob cheers Rod. :D
